Gas leak temporarily shuts down gas station

PORT CHARLOTTE — A vehicle gas leak shut down the CircleK gas station located at West Tarpon Boulevard and U.S. 41 for about an hour on Monday afternoon. According to Charlotte Fire/EMS spokeswoman Dee Hawkins, the car was leaking gas and a county HAZMAT team was called in to clean up the spill. No injuries were reported, Hawkins said, and the vehicle’s owner was advsed not to drive the vehicle home. This is the same gas station where an elderly driver drove through the store’s front doors last month.
