Missing veteran located in South Carolina
PUNTA GORDA — Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives report the 81-year-old missing Port Charlotte man was found in Orangeburg County, S.C. State troopers located Featherston Farr of the 1600 block of Britannia Boulevard (Kings Gate), who had been reported missing since Wednesday. Troopers told CCSO communications that Farr was sitting in his Hyundai Santa Fe SUV in the emergency lane on I-95 at 7 p.m. Friday. Farr was transported to the local regional hospital for dehydration and observation. CCSO detectives are coordinating with his family to go to South Carolina to get Farr and bring him and the SUV back home.
Farr is a disabled Korean War veteran. His wife called CCSO Wednesday to report him and their SUV missing. A neighbor said Farr stated he was going back to the Chicago area. His wife confirmed that they have an apartment in Calumet City, Ill., and drove back and forth on the same interstate highways to get there in the past. CCSO Communications Wednesday issued an area BOLO, a Silver Alert, and to law enforcement agencies along the interstates. CCSO detectives want to thank the many people who called in tips to authorities in the search for Farr.
