Storybook characters come to life

Students, teachers and adminstrators at Meadow Park Elementary in Port Charlotte all dressed as their favorite story book character and paraded around the inside of the school during a Halloween celebration Wednesday. The event is a longstanding tradition and that has taken place for over 26 years, according to adminstrators. Principal Deb Carney said the idea behind the storybook characters was to promote reading.
Here, Drew Caparo, 11, and Wyatt Kerne, 11, dressed as Planet Taco and Artemis Fowl. Wyatt said he chose his character because he was "interesting and exciting," while Drew chose to dress as a taco because they are "delicious."
