Crime levels dip across state
Mid-year crime statistics released by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Thursday showed a statewide decline in both violent and nonviolent crimes compared with the same period last year.
Overall, crime dipped statewide by 3.8 percent between January and June of this year; violent crimes fell by 5.3 percent, while nonviolent crimes fell by 3.6 percent, according to figures. The numbers represent a continued trend across Florida that began in 2009 when crime fell by 7.9 percent from 2008 and declined every year since.
