Attorneys for Melissa Bailey, the woman found guilty in August of sexually abusing her infant daughter more than three years ago, filed an appeal of the ruling with the Second District Court of Appeal on Oct. 30.
The appeal seeks to overturn the decision made by 20th Judicial Circuit Judge John Duryea, who sentenced Bailey, 29, to concurrent life sentences for two counts of sexual battery on a victim younger than 12, and one count of lewd or lascivious molestation. For the charges of lewd or lascivious exhibition, possession of child pornography and use of a child in a sexual performance, Bailey received roughly 35 additional years in prison.
