PUNTA GORDA — A local pilot was flying over his Glades County acreage on Sunday afternoon when he spotted an alleged thief on his property.

David Zehntner’s heightened perspective from his private plane helped four divisions of law enforcement arrest Gary Robert Haines, 59, in Charlotte County, authorities said.
