Car show draws huge crowd

PHOTO PROVIDED BY DINA MODESTO

The fifth annual Salvation Army Fund Replenishment Car Show was held Saturday at Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda. The show was a tremendous success, with almost 400 vehicles on exhibit — ranging from a very rare 1917 Roamer Tourer and a limited-edition 1941 Lincoln Continental Coupe, all the way up to 2012 models. An estimated 3,000 spectators, from infants to folks in their 90s attended, with most snapping tons of photos. Vistors lined their vehicles on the side of U.S. 41 to get into the event. The Veteran Motor Car Club of America, Southwest Florida Region, along with Muscle Car City management and staff, coordinated the event. All funds donated will stay in Charlotte County helping people in need.

The Royal Order of Ponce de Leon Conquistators brought large and small versions of their traveling pieces of history (the larger is named the Palencia) to the show.
