SARASOTA COUNTY — Local governments, Sarasota County Schools and the public will be able to take part in discussions on workforce development and shared use of school facilities in a Convocation of Governments meeting Friday morning in Sarasota.

The convocations are held statewide because counties are required by state law to adopt an interlocal agreement between school boards and the local governments on issues related to school planning. Friday’s meeting will feature the Sarasota County government, the School Board, representatives from the cities of North Port, Sarasota and Venice, the town of Longboat Key and a citizen’s oversight group that makes sure the interlocal agreement is being implemented properly.
