Hundreds showed up early Saturday morning despite the cool temperatures for the Fifth Annual Hands Across the Harbor walk, run and ride. Yoga instructors from the Yoga Sanctuary in Punta Gorda led a short session of stretching, warming up and mental preparation for either the 20- or 10-mile bike ride, or the 8K run or the walk across the A.W. Gilchrist Bridge (southbound U.S. 41), starting from Bayshore Live Oak Park in Charlotte Harbor. The event was presented by the Charlotte Harbor and Punta Gorda community redevelopment agencies.

With a time of 28 minutes, 48 seconds, James Harrison, 17, a junior at Lemon Bay High School, was the first to cross the official Zoomers finish line at the Fifth Annual Hands Across the Harbor 8k run across the A.W. Gilchrist Bridge in Charlotte Harbor. See page 16 for more photos.
