PUNTA GORDA — Charlotte County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit detectives are asking the public to help locate two Punta Gorda area men wanted for intentionally striking a deputy with their fleeing pickup truck Wednesday at 9:15 p.m. MCU detectives are looking for the driver of the white 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup, Hunter Bruce Morrison, 22, of the 28200 block of Alatadena Drive, Tropical Gulf Acres, and his passenger, Jeffrey Dean May, 33, of the 14100 block of Burnt Store Road, Punta Gorda. The license tag number is L02-7NZ.

Detectives said two deputies were attempting to serve an active arrest warrant for May and were walking up the driveway at his home. May was inside the pickup with Morrison at the wheel. As deputies approached, May yelled, “Go go go.” Morrison backed out in reverse, then sped forward, driving at the two deputies and striking one of them in the left leg. The pickup continued through the grass onto the roadway and headed south on Burnt Store Road toward Cape Coral. A BOLO was issued to law enforcement agencies in southwest Florida. The 30-year-old deputy was taken to Charlotte Regional Medical Center, treated and released. Morrison and May are wanted for committing aggravated battery by intentionally or knowingly striking a Charlotte County deputy with a motor vehicle to prevent apprehension. If anyone has information the whereabouts of Morrison or May, please call CCSO Det. Richard Nix at 941-639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
