Drug raid nets six arrests
ENGLEWOOD — Charlotte County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit detectives raided a known drug house in the 9100 block of Casa Grande Avenue in Englewood today at 7 a.m., arresting six people on numerous cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges. Arrested were John Timothy Cooper, 24, and Ryan Louis Messer, 24, who both reside in the Casa Grande Avenue home; Christopher Michael Scherbert, 23, and Scott Bouthiller, both of the 3000 block of Gillot Avenue in Gulf Cove; Dustin A. Luther, 22, of Heath, Ohio; and Kathleen Dwyer, 20, of the 900 block of Brengle Avenue, Englewood (Sarasota County). Following an ongoing narcotics investigation, CCSO narcotics detectives obtained a search warrant and executed it this morning. When the five people were removed from the home, detectives began their search. In Messer and Cooper’s room they found a baggie of cocaine residue, a spoon and marijuana. In the area where Luther was, detectives located marijuana at various locations, a grinder, and a digital scale with marijuana residue. In the bedroom where Dwyer was staying they found numerous drug items. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the area where Scherbert and Bouthiller were located.
All five were arrested on a variety of drug charges and transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Cooper and Messer had bond set at $4,500 each. Scherbert, Bothiller and Luther had bond set at $2,000 each.
