Today, the Haiti Mission Team of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda was set to leave for Port au Prince, Haiti, according to a release from the church. The team planned to spend a week there working with the Rev. Leon Dorleans, pastor of Haiti Outreach Ministries.
The team is prepared to hold optometry clinics at four locations, thanks to donations from a local Lion’s Club, which arranged for 800 pairs of desperately needed sunglasses and pouches for scripted glasses, the release states. Other planned activities include dental hygiene lessons and construction projects in Cite Soleil.
