The Fabric of Our Faith: Vital volunteers
On Labor Day, the first Monday in September, we honor the men and women who make up the labor force in our great nation. Civil servants such as firemen, policemen and correctional officers, all who work to protect the citizens they serve, often put their own lives in jeopardy. Whether these public servants work or are off for the holiday, let’s take time to let them know they are appreciated.
During the four years I spent as a chaplain with Florida’s Department of Corrections, I got acquainted with a specific group of prison workers — volunteers with a group called Kairos.
