Teachers, principals, school nurses and one superintendent came to celebrate the Shoes for Kids project.

Dr. Lori Carr, principal of East Elementary, has a student who’s taken to spotting classmates with shabby shoes and letting the school office know they need new ones.

“She came in one day and told me about a student whose shoes were ‘talking,’” Carr told a group during breakfast last week, making a talking motion with her right hand. “That means they were flapping as the student walked down the hall.”
