I do not understand why the news media and President Obama are constantly bringing up the fact that Mitt Romney only paid a 14 percent income tax on his earnings last year. It is sort of easy to figure out. It’s because of the tax code says 14 percent is what he had to pay. It’s not as if he performed some clandestine operation to relieve himself of paying his tax. Just because he made some smart investments does not mean he should pay more than what the law requires him to pay.
