Scott for
Charlotte
clerk of court
Barbara Scott has served as the Charlotte County Clerk of the Circuit Court since 1984, yet she’s the most low-profile public official in the county. The clerk oversees a wide range of court, administrative and financial functions and works with every other constitutional officer, including the County Commission.
Scott’s steady professionalism has created an efficient, respected organization that has reaped awards and results. As the overseer of the county’s annual financial report, her office has received a certificate for excellence in financial reporting from the Governmental Finance Officers Association each year since 1986. Also charged with managing the county’s financial investments, the county has earned $211 million since she took office 28 years ago.
