Earl E. Bartholomew
Earl E. Bartholomew, 73, of Milton, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
He was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Sharon, Pa.
Earl graduated Hartford High School of Hartford, Ohio, in 1956, and joined the U.S. Navy, where he served six years. He then joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was commissioned as a Sergeant with the 5th Communication Battalion, serving in-country in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966. Earl married his wife, the former Beyrl Jean Robinson of Cortland, Ohio, in 1968, and they had two daughters, Catherine Lynn of New Orleans, La., and Donna Jean Bartholomew Fickes of Lubbock, Texas. He retired from General Motors Corporation in Lordstown, Ohio, after 31 years of service, and moved with his wife to Florida. Earl belonged to the U.S. Power Squadron, and was the commander of the Peace River Power Squadron from 2006 to 2007. He later joined the Fort Myers Power Squadron as a past Commander.
Earl is survived by his wife; daughters; brothers, Bill Bartholomew of Critersville, Ohio, and Dale Likens of Forsyth, Ga.; sisters, Shirley Stocz of Cortland, and Alberta Griffin Morales of Warren, Ohio; and a grandson, Zachary Fickes of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sylvia Hibler Bartholomew; and brothers, the Rev. James E. Bartholomew, Gene Likens and Al Likens.
A military honors memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton, with a brief visitation preceding the service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at sea. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Disabled Veterans of Pensacola, Fla., in the name of Earl E.
