Richard J. Brillhart

Richard J. Brillhart, 84, of Carmel, Ind., and formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Grand Ledge, Mich., passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012.

He was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Lansing, Mich., to Jay C. and Iva (nee Willard) Brillhart.

Richard and his wife co-owned the Sportsmaster Marine in Grand Ledge, until they retired in 1975. He was an avid woodcarver and woodworker. Richard also enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor pursuits.

He is survived by his daughters, Marlo J. (Jeremy) Lloyd and Suzanne M. Shelby; grandchildren, Nicholas (Michele) Panetta and Jamie (Greg) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Matthew Nance, and Brice Thompson; and sister, June Parsons. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn E. Brillhart.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, and will be open to family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
