Joan Guntsch
Joan Guntsch, 80, a resident of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Port Murray, N.J., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa., with her beloved cousin Nadie Hill at her side.
She was born April 30, 1932, in Hoboken, N.J., the daughter of Thomas and Jeanne (nee Murden) Kamerling.
Joan was a 1950 graduate of East Side High School in Patterson, N.J. She married Frederick H. Guntsch Sept. 20, 1968. For 35 years, Joan worked for Grand Union Company in the Payroll department as the Assistant Supervisor of all payroll tax returns. She also belonged to the Extraordinary Women’s Bible Study and Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Joan was a devoted wife, and a generous and kind-hearted person who will be missed by all.
She is survived by her cousin, Nadie Hill of Port Murray; nieces, Debra Jeanne Hill-Whipple of Nazareth, Pa., and Lisa Ann (Francis) Moyer of Port Murray; great-nieces, Megan, Lindsay and Jayme Whipple of Nazareth, and Jillienne and Carly Moyer of Port Murray; stepson, Fred T. (Betty) Guntsch of Mauldin, S.C.; grandchildren, Thomas Guntsch of Mauldin, Kimberly (David) La France of Jacksonville, Fla., Christy (Mike) Street of Fountain Inn, S.C., and Robert Guntsch of Simpsonville, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Skyler La France; and devoted friends and neighbors, Linda and Ernie Kraus of Punta Gorda, and Dorothy Richards of Port Charlotte, Fla. Joan was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 34 years, Frederick Guntsch, who passed away Feb. 25, 2003; her parents; and her “little brother” cousin, Paul Hill.
A visitation was held Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc. in Washington, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at St. Theodore’s Roman Catholic Church in Port Murray. Online condolences may be made at www.devoefuneral.com.
