Rose Marie Bartman Yienger
Rose Marie Bartman Yienger, 84, of Port Charlotte, Fla.,and formerly of Roundtop, N.Y., passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012.
She was born May 11, 1928, in Coalgate, Okla., to Luther and Thelma Myers.
Rose, who graduated from the State University of New York in New Paltz, N.Y., with a Master’s Degree in Education in 1955, moved from New York to Port Charlotte in 1985, following her retirement as a teacher for more than 30 years with Cairo-Durham Elementary School in Cairo, N.Y. After moving to Port Charlotte, she joined Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, and became active in the church’s 3 M’s, Esther Circle and Ladies Guild. Rose loved to dance and could be found dancing with her husband Donald at the Senior Center in Venice, Fla., or the Cultural Center of Charlotte County, Fla.
She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Yienger of Port Charlotte; sons, Jerrold W. (Michael-Ann) Bartman of Cobleskill, N.Y., and James J. (Patricia) Bartman of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Johanna Marie, Judith Anne, Joshua Anthony and Jeffrey Michael; sisters, twin, Ruth Hitchcock of Hyde Park, N.Y., and Donna Shipp of Port Charlotte; brother, David Myers of Ashville, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; a brother; son, Jeffrey; grandson, James J. Jr.; and first husband of 57 years, James A. Bartman.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. The Rev. Brian James, Pastor, will officiate. A private committal will be held in New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the PCUM 3 M’s Scholarship Fund, in care of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
