Dr. Frank L. Cushing Jr., 90, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, in Punta Gorda.

He was born Dec. 1, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo.

Frank was a dentist in St. Louis County, Mo., for 37 years, before retiring and later moving to Florida. He was a member of the St. Louis Dental Society, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Frank was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Cushing of Punta Gorda; son, Frank L. (Barbara) Cushing III of Punta Gorda; sister, Audrey Layton of St. Louis; brother, Donald (Idell) Cushing of Union, Mo.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his son, Mark S. Cushing.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 25200 Airport Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
