Harry W. “Butch” Gaskill III, 62, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.

He was born Feb. 16, 1950, in Fort Myers, Fla., to Harry W. and Rhoda (nee Holt) Gaskill Jr.

Butch was the grandson of the former Punta Gorda Chief of Police, Sim Holt. He loved his family and visiting with others, and he enjoyed life in Punta Gorda. Butch once had his own band; he was part owner of the Gilded Grape Bar in Punta Gorda, as well as part owner of a carpet store in Charlotte Harbor, Fla. He was a member of the Charlotte Harbor Wild Cats Sand Lot football team, and was the proud owner of the Billy Goat Hammock Ranch on Shell Creek.
