Marguerite B. (nee Yost) Miles, 86, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 12, 1925, in Nottingham, W.Va. to Stewart W. and Verlie C. (nee Nottingham) Ryder. A retired assistant manager for a Western Wear Clothing store, Marguerite moved to Charlotte Co. from Winchester, Va. in Feb. of 1987. A Methodist, she was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Deep Creek Lodge No. 2763 in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Joyce Ann Carpenter of Arcadia, Fla.; brothers and sisters, Harold C. Ryder of Lewisburg, W.Va., Leon A. Ryder of Lodi, Calif., Kathleen E. Stone of Roanoke, Va., and Carolyn L. Kiene of Winchester; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles D. and Richard Ryder.

A memorial service will be held for Marguerite 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Port Charlotte Moose Lodge Family Center 2121, 3462 Loveland Blvd., Port Charlotte, Fl 33980. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fl 34238.
