Evelyn E. Prose, 88, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at her residence in Port Charlotte.

She was born Sept. 19, 1924, in Atlanta, Ga., to William A. Gipson and Lilly Holland Gipson.

Evelyn came to Port Charlotte from Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1977.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Beck of Pittsburgh; sons, Stephen of St. Petersburg, Fla., David of Daytona, Fla., Richard (Sandra) of Washington state, and Doug (Diane) of Oakland, Calif.; sister, Mildred Horne of Port Charlotte; brother, Henry (Joyce) Gipson of Cumming, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Valentine, who passed away in 2007; and her sister, Mary.
