Francis J. Zinar, 85, suddenly passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

He was born Jan. 19, 1927.

Francis was raised in Philadelphia, Pa. He was a World War II Army veteran. Francis was a member of American Legion Post 110 and Moose Lodge 2121, both of Port Charlotte.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (nee Klauder) Zinar; daughter, Diane (nee Zinar) Wright of Philadelphia; son, Richard (Theresa [nee Skoczen]) of Port Charlotte; he was “pop pop” of five grandchildren; and also was survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. The funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Fla.
