Alice Singh, 90, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at the Charlotte Harbor Healthcare Center.

She was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Murano, Italy.

Her adolescent days were in Innsbrook, Austria, and after World War II, Alice moved to England to study and there, met her husband. After marriage and the birth of her daughter, she moved to Georgetown, Guyana, for the next 20 years, during which time her son was born. Alice then moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., for the next 24 years, where she worked in the insurance field. After retiring, she moved to Port Charlotte to enjoy her golden years.

Alice is survived by her loving husband, Sohan Roopan Singh; daughter, Indira Rovita Singh; son, Hans Leonard Singh; sisters at heart, Gertraud Bauhofer and Anna Gulyn; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her as their “Aunty Alice.”

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. The funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2500 Easy St., Port Charlotte, with Father Phil Scheff officiating.
