John R. Mullen

John R. Mullen, 82, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012.

He was born May 12, 1930, in Lowell, Mass., to Joseph M. and Catherine (nee Conley) Mullen.

John served in the U.S. Navy as Machinist Mate 3rd Class onboard the USS Rochester. He worked as a technician at Raytheon Company for 36 years in Lowell. John was a member of Elks Club 2153 and American Legion Post 110, both in Port Charlotte, and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 19 years, Connie; sons, John (Lisa) Mullen and David (Pam) Mullen; daughters, Geralyn Mullen, Barbara Mullen and Christine (Richard) Ploof; stepchildren, Debby Rouses, Linda Gervais, Kathy Gervais, Steve Gervais and Michael Gervais; sister, Ruth (nee Mullen) DePaulis; brother, Joseph Michael Mullen; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Franchan Larson and Angela Smith; and brother, Thomas Mullen.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice Inc. To express condolences to the family, please visit www.Ltaylorfuneral.com, and sign the online guestbook.
