Edwin A. Cummings
Edwin A. Cummings, 93, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was born May 31, 1919, in Ellijay, Ga., the son of Edwin Watson and Bertha Zanna (nee Lawson) Cummings.
Edwin is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served during World War II as a Carpenters Mate 3rd Class. He was a self-employed master carpenter for over 70 years. Edwin was a member of AMVETS, the VFW, the American Legion and the DAV.
He is survived by his son, Edwin D. (Jean) Cummings of Punta Gorda; daughters, Carolyn Ramos, Janet Kessler, Melody Wunsche, and Michele (Steve) Mock of Port Charlotte; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma L. (nee Jensen) Cummings; three sisters; and a brother.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will be at Sand Hill Cemetery in Sandusky.
