Andrea Florit
Andrea Florit, 97, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, peacefully, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
She was born Nov. 11, 1914, in Puerto Rico.
Andrea traveled on her own to the U.S. to start her new life in Manhatten, N.Y. She later moved to Port Charlotte, where she lived the remainder of her life. Andrea was a seamstress by trade, and also enjoyed spending her time gardening and cooking traditional Puerto Rican food for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Andrea is survived by her children, Carmen (Robert) Peckett, John (Cindy) Florit, Yvonne (Phillip) Carpenter and Susie Lozada; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members.
The viewing will be from noon until the service at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. Burial will follow at Royal Palm Cemetery in Punta Gorda, Fla.
