Darlene L. Geathers

Darlene L. Geathers, 53, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012.

She was born April 3, 1959, in Baltimore, Md.

Darlene moved to this area as a young teen from there. She had worked as a home health nurse for many years, and retired five years ago as a sales cashier. Darlene had a passion for gardening, enjoyed yard sales and auctions, and recently had opened her own retail thrift store in Port Charlotte. A hard worker and a very loving, giving person, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Mellisa (Bill) Ginn; granddaughter, Selena Ward, all of North Port; fiancé, Tom Beamon of Port Charlotte; brothers and sisters, Jonny Krebs and Shirley (Ed) Lubinski, both of Baltimore, Doris Elliott of Port Charlotte, Mary (Gary) Summers of Punta Gorda, Fla., Betty (Robert) Douglas of Fort White, Fla., and Nancy (Dave) Starr and Jerry Krebs, both of Punta Gorda; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Geathers, on Feb. 22, 2004.
