Adeline Benkner, 87, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012.

She was born July 14, 1925, in New York, N.Y.

Adeline moved to this area in 1990 from Pompton Lakes, N.J. She retired as a Retail Manager for Sears. Locally, Adeline was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alfred F. Benkner of Punta Gorda; son, Al (Sandra) Benkner of Punta Gorda; daughters, June (Eddie) Amara of Punta Gorda, and Patricia Benkner of New Jersey; granddaughter, Devyn Amara of Punta Gorda; and brother, Domenick Yetti of Stewart, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Inurnment at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens will take place privately at a later date.
