Doris Ruth Culver, 91, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at her home.

She was born Oct. 11, 1920, to Ernest and Olive (nee Cole) Steinorth in Rochester, N.Y.

Doris moved to Port Charlotte in 1990 from there. She was a retired secretary for an insurance company. Doris was a member of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, the Christian Women’s Club and the Charlotte Symphony League, and was a Stephen minister and leader at her church.

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Ethyl Rugg of Napa, Calif.; stepsons, Fred W. Culver of Austin, Texas, Edward Culver of Reno, Nev., and Glen Culver; and seven grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reule F. Culver; and a sister, Martha LeClair.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952. The Rev. Brian James will officiate.
