Nick J. Caggiano, 93, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Tidewell Hospice Inc. in Port Charlotte.

He was born March 14, 1919, in New York, N.Y.

Nick moved to Port Charlotte in 1974, from there. He was a World War II veteran who served proudly in the U.S. Army. Nick was a member of St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church for many years. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, and will forever be missed by all who loved and knew him. For those who remember Nick well, remember his famous quote, “It’s Nice to be Nice.”

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rose M. Caggiano; son, Joseph Caggiano of Port Charlotte; daughter, Marianne Armstrong of Show Low, Ariz.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Inurnment with Military honors by the U.S. Army and American Legion will follow at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church Memorial Garden. Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel.
