Earl LeRoy Cecil
Earl LeRoy Cecil, 80, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was born June 9, 1932, in Kansas City, Kan.
Earl came to Port Charlotte from St. Louis, Mo. in 2007. He was a sales representative for Glidden Paint Company retiring after many years of service, he was also a high school teacher and coach. Earl served in the U.S. Marines Corps, during the Korean War and received four bronze stars. He was a member of the American Legion # 110 of Port Charlotte, and also a member of the First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda, Fla.
Earl is survived by his wife, Terry of Port Charlotte; children, Troy Cecil, Brad Cecil, Amy Packer, Jane Brengle, Karen Kowaleski, Linda Angevine, and Kyle Cecil; mother, Leona Cecil; three brothers; sister; 19 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, James Cecil who passed away in 1952.
Visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. Funeral services at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, with Military Honors by the American Legion Post#110 of Port Charlotte. Inurnment will be at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society at 992 Tamiami Trl., Unit C-2 Port Charlotte, 33953.
