Douglas Arnold Gary

Douglas Arnold Gary, 57, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Hedgesville, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012.

He was born June 19, 1955, in Bethesda, Md., to Arnold and Madeline (Stearns) Gary.

Douglas came to this area in August of 2012. He was a self-employed Plumber and Handyman. Doug was a member of the O.T.R. (Old Timers Reunion) Caver Club over 35 years in Romney, W.Va., Memorabilia Collector of World War II Navy items, O.T.R. Plumber for over 20 years and was a dedicated Redskins fan. He attended Shepherd University in W.Va.

Douglas is survived by his mother, Madeline M. Gary of Englewood; sister, Anna (Erich) Swain of Port Charlotte; step-sisters, Patty Tumaszik of North Carolina and Sandra Funkhouse of New York; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in the Doan Chapel at Englewood United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to either, Tidewell Englewood Hospice House Memorial Garden Fund, 12050 N. Access Rd., Port Charlotte, FL 33981, or a Cancer Research.
