Ruth Hadley
Ruth Hadley, 92, of St. Petersburg, Fla. and formerly of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, in the comforting and loving arms of her family in St. Petersburg.
She was born in Kutch, Colo.
Ruth, her husband Earl and children moved to Punta Gorda in 1957 from Denver, Colo., and opened Punta Gorda Hardware. Later a Marina was added to the business. Today, the people who purchased the Marina are still in business and Ruth’s son, Dale R. Hadley, can be found at Gator Creek Marina. In 2004, Ruth moved to St. Petersburg to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Pinellas Park, Fla. Ruth enjoyed volunteering and giving to the community in both Punta Gorda and St. Petersburg. She enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and NASCAR racing, especially her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. She was an excellent seamstress, florist and loved gardening. Her roses, orchids and violets are of exceptional beauty. She assisted George and Jill in the family business, Furniture by George, in the accounting department. She loved her Church and all her pets, especially her little Yorkie, Louie.
Ruth is survived by daughter, Susan Jill (George R.) Cole of St. Petersburg; son, Dale R. (Sheril) Hadley of Punta Gorda; grandchildren, Bryan A. (Carrie) Wilson of Jasper, Ala., Susan E. Wilson of St. Petersburg, and Dale Earl Hadley of Punta Gorda; great-grandchildren, Austin and Brooklyn Wilson; and a great-nephew, David (Trish) Henderson of Aurora, Colo.
A Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Assembly of God, 6380 62nd Ave. N, Pinellas Park, FL 33701. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Suncoast Hospice via www.suncoasthospice.com.
