Report: Man steals cough syrup but leaves wallet behind
PUNTA GORDA — A man allegedly trying to steal cough syrup from Walmart dropped his wallet and identification while fleeing from store security, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report.
Aaron Matthew Watts, 18, of the 21000 block of Meehan Avenue, Port Charlotte, was charged with petty theft in connection with the incident.
According to the report, Watts was attempting to steal three bottles of cough syrup Monday night from the Punta Gorda Walmart when he was spotted by store security. When confronted, Watts ran out of the store and across the parking lot, dropping a baseball cap, flip-flops and his wallet, which contained his photo identification.
Authorities located Watts on Friday morning when they spotted him riding a bicycle on Acline Road, south of Punta Gorda. He was arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail, where he remains without bond. He’s also being held on a vehicular grand theft charge in an unrelated case.
Report: Man crashes stolen car
PORT CHARLOTTE — A Cape Coral man was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly crashed a stolen BMW into a palm tree, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report.
Brandon Lee Dahl, 18, of Cape Coral, was charged with grand theft auto, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest.
According to the report, Dahl crashed the 2000 BMW into a palm tree, concrete wall and exterior air-conditioning unit on the 3500 block of Harbor Boulevard, Port Charlotte, on Thursday night and fled the scene.
Using K-9 and aviation units, the CCSO was able to locate Dahl lying on the roof of a home in the same block where he crashed the car, the report states. He was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail, where he remains without bond, due to an additional violation of probation charge.
Approximately $12,000 in damage was done to the BMW, the report states, and it was stolen out of Palm Beach County.
Teen shoots buddies with pellet gun
PORT CHARLOTTE — A teen was arrested Thursday for allegedly shooting three boys with a pellet gun after they refused to smoke synthetic marijuana with him, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report.
The boy, 15, was upset when his three companions would not smoke the fake marijuana, the report states, and started shooting a pellet gun. The three boys who were shot sustained injuries to their legs, backs and faces, the report states.
The boy was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail, where he was transferred to a Department of Juvenile Justice facility in Fort Myers.

• Stephen Mark Lasalle, 32, 700 block of Carambola, Punta Gorda. Charges: possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotic equipment, failure to maintain vehicle insurance and driving with a suspended license. Bond: $4,500.
• Joseph Anthony Gibbia, 40, 25500 block of Heritage Lake Blvd., Deep Creek. Charge: driving with a suspended license. Bond: $500.
• Michael Paul Linaris, 54, 1300 block of Hillcrest Ave., Port Charlotte. Charges: two counts of burglary with assault or battery. Bond: none.
• Christian Marie Ricewick, 31, 21100 block of Bersell Ave., Port Charlotte. Charges: two counts of violation of probation (original charges: three counts of grand theft). Bond: none.
• Sean Michael Chase, 40, 20200 block of Lorenzo Ave., Port Charlotte. Charge: withholding child support. Purge: $570.
• Verna Lee Rossi, 40, 2000 block of Collingswood Blvd., Port Charlotte. Charge: violation of probation (original charges: two counts of battery, and resisting arrest). Bond: none.
