Punta Gorda firefighters and Charlotte County medics tend to a woman and a child inside this SUV after a crash at U.S. 41 and Marion Avenue about 9 a.m. Saturday. The crash appeared to happen after another motorist, not pictured, ran a red light and hit the SUV, causing it to spin out of control. The identities of those involved were not disclosed by police Saturday.
PORT CHARLOTTE — Two local girls, ages 11 and 13, who spent all night Sept. 17-18 in Neil Armstrong Elementary School, were arrested Friday on burglary and petty theft charges stemming from the incident.
The girls had made prank calls and posted Facebook messages during their sleepover that sent “law enforcement in Charlotte and Lee counties scrambling” to locate them, sheriff’s spokesman Bob Carpenter pointed out in a press release.
