Report: Man caught stealing boat engine

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office located a distressed sailboat 10 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico early Friday morning and helped to tow the boat back to shore, along with the U.S. Coast Guard. The boat had lost power, was taking on water and the battery was dead, according to a report. The boat was taken to Gasparilla Marina for repairs, and no injuries were reported. ENGLEWOOD EAST — Authorities arrested a man Thursday night after he was caught in the act of stealing an outboard motor from a boat, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report.
Ifrain Mondeja, 40, was charged with resisting arrest with violence, obstructing police, possession of burglary tools, grand theft, burglary of an unoccupied structure and burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.
