PORT CHARLOTTE — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a woman on drug-trafficking charges after nearly $5,500 in cash and various prescription pills were discovered inside the vehicle, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report.

Patricia Ann South, 37, of the 12100 block of Chancellor Boulevard, Port Charlotte, was charged with trafficking in hydromorphone, possession of oxycodone, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the report, South’s vehicle was spotted traveling through the intersection of Midway Boulevard and Elliot Circle with no headlights around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday. A deputy made a traffic stop and, while searching the vehicle, a CCSO K-9 officer reportedly alerted authorities to the presence of drugs.

The report states two large bundled amounts of cash, totaling $5,445, were found in the car, along with a crack pipe, a container that contained “quantities” of hydromorphone and oxycodone pills, and a pair of men’s pants with a wallet containing $997. South said the drugs and money belonged not to her, but to the woman who owned the car.

South was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail, where she remains without bond due to a bond forfeiture on an Oct. 25 cocaine arrest.

The investigation into the most recent drug activity is ongoing, the report states.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:

• Jason Michael Marrone, 32, 3100 block of Crestwood Drive, Port Charlotte. Charges: trafficking in Percocet, possession of Percocet, possession of alprazolam and introducing contraband into a detention facility. Bond: $32,500.

• Lindsay Lee Nichols, 24, of Zolfo Springs, Fla. Charges: failure to appear, battery and violation of pretrial-release conditions. Bond: none.

• Cathy Clerjuste, 30, 22400 block of Olean Blvd., Port Charlotte. Charge: battery. Bond: none.

• Rashaan Jahwarra Forman, 35, 3000 block of Jody St., Port Charlotte. Charge: trespassing. Bond: $1,000.

• Carlos Jackson Subel, 33, 2500 block of Warne St., Port Charlotte. Charges: two counts of violation of probation (original charges: petty theft, resisting arrest, grand theft and two counts of trafficking in stolen property). Bond: none.

• Marlene Kay Hogeland, 66, homeless in Port Charlotte. Charge: violation of a county ordinance. Bond: $250.

• Jessica Evon Small, 29, 3200 block of Normandy Drive, Port Charlotte. Charge: violation of probation (original charge: violation of an open-container ordinance). Bond: $950.

• Crystal Nichole Skinner, 20, 23400 block of Charleston Circle, Port Charlotte. Charges: two counts of violation of probation (original charges: two counts of petty theft and violation of pretrial-release conditions). Bond: none.

• James Arthur Henry, 59, 1500 block of Abscott St., Port Charlotte. Charge: violation of probation (original charge: battery). Bond: none.

• Danielle Pierre-Louis, 25, 21400 block of Michigan Ave., Port Charlotte. Charge: violation of probation. Bond: $1,000.

• Timothy Scott Lowder, 40, 21300 block of Hepner Ave., Port Charlotte. Charges: driving with a suspended license and violation of restrictions placed on a driver’s license. Bond: $1,000.

• Joseph W. McSweeney, 43, 4000 block of Barbary Lane, North Port. Charge: violation of probation. Bond: $1,500.

• Gary Michael Audette, 25, 1200 block of La Suiza St., North Port. Charge: violation of probation (original charge: petty theft). Bond: none.

• Beverly Mae Herholz, 35, 5000 block of New Castle St., North Port. Charges: petty theft and violation of probation. Bond: none.

• Mark Gregory Curtin, 65, 4300 block of Michaler St., North Port. Charge: driving with a suspended license. Bond: $500.

• Timothy James Crowe, 51, of Fort Myers. Charge: driving with a suspended license. Bond: $500.

• Brandon Lee Ewing, 20, 8400 block of Truman St., Englewood. Charges: two counts of violation of probation (original charges: possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear). Bond: $1,500.

• Cody M. Barfield, 19, 1100 block of Kehosee Lane, Englewood. Charge: violation of probation (original charges: possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia). Bond: none.

The Punta Gorda Police Department reported the following arrests:

• Austin Klyne Moodie, 21, 100 block of Colony Point Drive, Punta Gorda. Charges: grand theft and dealing in stolen property. Bond: $15,000.

• Scott Walter Westergard, 50, 22900 block of Bayshore Road, Charlotte Harbor. Charge: driving with a suspended license. Bond: $500.

• William Hardy Whidden, 48, 100 block of S. Hernando Ave., Arcadia. Charge: out-of-county warrant. Bond: $5,000.
