PORT CHARLOTTE — The Pirates won in three games Monday night against DeSoto County High School, but the Bulldogs made them work for it. In three back-and-forth games, Port Charlotte won 25-23, 30-28, 25-21.

“That’s the team I know is there,” Port Charlotte coach Chrissy Burkhart said. “I know that they have that fighting spirit, and it’s the first time I’ve seen it all season.”
