NORTH PORT — The course at the North Port Invitational on Saturday was fast, with few turns or hills to slow runners.

Tyler Bennett of Fort Myers High School showed just how quick the course was when he crossed the finish line of the five-kilometer race in 15:27.80, a race record. Teammate Aesop Brown finished in 15:55.00, which also beat the old record of 15:58 held by Charlotte’s Tyler Cardillo. Fort Myers won the event with 69 points.
