NORTH PORT — Breanna Matthews struck a silly face for a camera-phone picture as her North Port High School teammates smiled and cheered Tuesday evening. On the other side of the court, Lemon Bay stood quietly, arms linked in a somber circle.
The Bobcats had pulled off an upset: After two games, the match was tied 1-1. At the end of the second game, Matthews tipped the ball over the net to make the score 24-23, then served the game point. The team celebrated like it had won more than just the game.
