A North Port man allegedly kidnapped and threatened a woman he met on the dating website Plenty of Fish, according to a report from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Pena, 23, of the 7100 block of Harle Ave., North Port, was charged with false imprisonment, grand theft, battery, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on Thursday. According to the report, Pena arrived at the victim’s Punta Gorda apartment uninvited early Thursday morning. The victim allowed Pena to enter, after which he took her cell phone and retreated to his vehicle, where he demanded to read messages on the phone. Pena drove away from the victim’s home with her still inside the vehicle, refusing to let her get out, the report says. Pena grabbed the victim to prevent her from leaving, but also attempted to push her out of the moving vehicle at one point. The report states Pena told the victim he had kidnapped others before and gotten away with it. He also reportedly told the victim he would kill her. Pena eventually dropped the victim back off at her home, at which time she alerted authorities. The report says Pena and the victim had been on three dates previously. Authorities arrested Pena and transported him to the Charlotte County Jail, where he’s being held without bond.
