The newly formed Osprey Nokomis Chamber of Commerce is about to make its voice heard, as members seek to get the speed limit from Nokomis to Sarasota reduced to 45 mph. Although some stretches have a 45 mph limit now, the limit is 55 mph in several places.

The change would affect an estimated 37,000 drivers using U.S. 41 daily, according to the 2011 average daily traffic count by the Florida Department of Transportation.
