Citing a need to update the city’s zoning ordinance, the city of Venice code board this week dismissed two cases against a prayer group.

The group’s leader, Shane Roessiger, who operates the In Him Healing Touch Ministry Inc. on rented property at 828 The Rialto, had been cited months ago for violating the city’s sign ordinance for displaying a sign for a local prayer hotline and a large cross, and for holding prayer meetings in a residential neighborhood.
