North Port man dies in Venice crash
VENICE — A North Port man died Friday morning after Florida Highway Patrol investigators say he experienced a medical condition while driving in Venice.
According to an FHP report, Ronald Alan Long, 58, was driving his 2000 Ford E250 north on Timberline Boulevard just before 9 a.m. As he made a right turn onto Southern Pine Circle, he appeared to have an unknown medical issue, causing his van to leave the roadway and strike a home on the street’s 5000 block. Long, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Venice Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the report shows.
