NORTH PORT — The arts are a big business in Sarasota County and, by extension, in North Port.

According to a recent study released by Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America, the arts mean business — especially in Sarasota County. The study revealed $180 million was generated in total economic activity in the county in 2010.
