A turf war between hospitals that started in June has landed in court.

The Sarasota County Hospital Board, owners of Sarasota Memorial Hospital, sued the city of Venice on Jan. 10, filing a writ of prohibition in the Twelfth Circuit Court against the city for granting Venice HMA, owner of Venice Regional Medical Center, standing in an appeal over a site and development plan.
