Pauline B. Doles

Pauline Brunton Doles, 88, of Columbus, Ind., entered eternal life at 1:58 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Venice Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Doles was born in Westport, Ind., Jan. 28, 1923, the daughter of the late Cecil V. and Ruth Downey Brunton.

She married the Rev. Vern E. Doles in Westport, Ind., on Jan. 31, 1942, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2008.

She was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ind., with a winter home in Venice, Fla.

Mrs. Doles was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking. People would stand in line for her pies. She also enjoyed bowling.

She was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church and attended Christ United Methodist Church in Venice. She served as an Indiana state officer of United Methodist Women for several years. She was also a member of the Clifford Chapter Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Doles is survived by three sons, Donald E. (Janet) Doles of Davidson, N.C., Jerry L. (Laurie) Doles of Zion, Ill., and Robert E. (Barbara) Doles of Westport, Ind.; two brothers, Ken Brunton of Mesa, Ariz., and the Rev. Max (JoAnnie) Brunton of Terre Haute, Ind.; a sister, Marian (Tom) Woods of Memphis, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband of 66 years, Mrs. Doles was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and the Rev. Joe Brunton.

Services: A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Doles was conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at the East Columbus United Methodist Church, with Pastor Charles Aigner officiating. Calling hours were from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Myers-Reed Chapel at 3729-25th St., Columbus, Ind., and were from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Ind. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.myers-reed.com.
